Lucid Promises Mind-Off Driving, Reality Not Included

Lucid Motors is bravely promising 'privately owned' Level 4 autonomous vehicles powered by Nvidia's Drive AV platform—because who wouldn’t want a ‘mind-off’ car that doesn’t exist yet? Set to hit our dreams by 2026, the midsized SUV will pack cameras, lidar, radar, and double Nvidia Drive AGX Thor computers (yes, that’s a thing) running DriveOS. While Tesla devised DreamDrive Pro as a 'gateway,' Lucid is selling a fantasy of hands-off driving at a time when the $7,500 EV tax credit has expired, making affordability a wild guess. Meanwhile, Uber's prepping thousands of pimped-out Lucids for robotaxi glory—because apparently, owning one yourself is just a big, expensive question mark.
