In a bipartisan lovefest over child safety, lawmakers like Sen. Marsha Blackburn and Sen. Richard Blumenthal are yelling at Meta to kill Instagram's new map feature faster than you can say 'pedo alert.' Instagram lets users share their location via a map in DMs that lasts 24 hours. Lawmakers slammed Metaâs 'abysmal' child protection record, citing 'AI chatbots talking inappropriately to children' and reports that 'some consumers have reported that their location was automatically shared without their consent.' Meanwhile, Meta shrugs: 'Instagram Map is off by default,' and Adam Mosseri says he carefully curates his stalker squad. Cozy!
