On Saturday night during the sacred burning of the playa effigy, a man was found in a pool of blood, sparking an investigation by Pershing County sheriff’s deputies in the hottest, driest coroner’s office on Earth. The victim’s identity remains a mystery — proving once again that even at $575 tickets, one cannot guarantee safety or a guest list. Organizers stressed their cooperation with law enforcement, proving that Burning Man can handle murder almost as well as mismanagement of festival finances.
