This year, a young player's dream of stepping up to the plate at the National High School Baseball Championship was crushed faster than the hopes of fans at a rainy game. Courting glory turned into dodging bullets, thanks to a series of bullying incidents that made the dugout less of a team and more of a survival zone. Sadly, no game stats or heroic home runs here — just bruised spirits and shattered ambitions. If only the opposing team had been kindness and support, maybe our star hitter could have swung for the fences instead of avoiding the bench.
