Turkey’s Peacekeepers Renew Mandates, World Rolls Eyes Again
In what could only be described as an epic saga of parliamentary déjà vu, Turkey’s parliament on Tuesday renewed military deployment mandates in Syria and Iraq for three more years and Unifil deployment in Lebanon for two years. Turkey’s Defence Ministry proudly announced that Turkish peacekeeping forces will continue to 'boost' Lebanese army capabilities, aiming for peace and stability in Lebanon—because when in doubt, just add more military mandates! Meanwhile, US Secretary of State gracefully called Knesset’s sovereignty votes ‘counterproductive’—because diplomatic nonsense waits for no one during these two-day Israel visits. Stability, mandates, and political eye-rolls all around!
