Deportations Take July Vacation, Activists Throw Block Party

After a barnburner of mass deportations in June, immigration arrests hit the snooze button in July, much to the relief of activists in sanctuary jurisdictions. Theyâre hoping their resistance tactics actually make a dent, because who doesnât love sticking a finger in the bureaucratic eye? With arrest numbers dropping after June's blitz, sanctuary supporters are basically hosting a civic version of 'Nope, not today, Border Patrol!' Meanwhile, local communities enjoy the brief respite as deportation efforts seemingly suffer from summertime laziness.
