Idaho Schools: Dyslexia Denial Club Champions Since Forever

At Fruitland Elementary, 10-year-old Kali Larsen endured years of being called 'dumb' because she has dyslexia—and the school wouldn’t even give her a proper evaluation. Her mother, Jessica Larsen, declared, 'We're failing our kids. This is our future.' Despite a state investigator ruling the district broke the law in 70% of complaints, the school claims it was just anxious—and, oh, an evaluation would 'take too long.' Idaho's funding formula, last updated during the Great Depression, apparently thinks special education is a luxury, not a right.
