Myrtle Bridge to Bikini: Size 16 Mom Versus Burpees

Kelly Kanaras went from a wedding-day size 8 at 130 pounds in July 1993 to a 200-pound size 16 by 2019, thanks to two turbo-charged toddlers and zero emotional support. During a family trip to Myrtle Beach in summer 2019, watching her mother-in-law conk out halfway over a dune bridge inspired Kelly to vow 'no Grandma Left Behind.' She attacked weight loss like she was starring in a fitness gladiator show—lacing up for Krav Maga, yoga, boxing, burpees, mountain climbers, and even two savage Murph Challenges (which are apparently more torture than cardio). With MyFitnessPal as her sidekick, Kelly dropped 60 pounds, landed a size 6 wardrobe overhaul via Poshmark, and now rocks bikinis while outrunning time and people’s age guesses at 57. Boyfriend 12 years younger included for zip-line-speed jealousy.
