Hurricane Erin Shows Up Uninvited, Promises Catastrophe

Brace yourself for Hurricane Erin, which has been promoted from a modest Category 1 to a "major hurricane" Category 4 faster than you can say 'power outage.' According to the National Hurricane Center's 11 a.m. advisory, Erin boasts sustained winds of 155 mph with "strengthening expected this afternoon." It’s heading toward Bermuda and East Coast beaches, bringing "life-threatening surf and rip currents" alongside a generous helping of catastrophic damage, including downed trees and weeks-long power interruptions. Basically, Erin’s here to crash your summer better than any unwanted relative.
