Oregon’s Fire Map: Worse PR Than the Fire Itself

Oregon's attempt to map wildfire risk turned into a blazing dumpster fire of misinformation. The map, intended to help homeowners 'increase the likelihood their homes and properties will survive wildfires,' instead sparked conspiracy theories from 'Agenda 21' maniacs claiming it was a plot to 'depopulate rural areas.' Even GOP leaders branded it 'faulty, defective, harmful,' blaming it for insurance hikes despite insurers saying otherwise. Oregon essentially rolled out a wildfire risk map with the communication skills of a soggy marshmallow, resulting in threats and wild hysteria where hotter, drier weather was somehow not the real culprit.
