Corporate America’s Diversity Report: Now You See It, Now You Don’t

In 2025, America's favorite corporate magic trick is 'Now you see our diversity data, now you don't.' The share of S&P 500 companies disclosing women on boards plunged from 91% to 60%, and racial/ethnic data disclosure dropped from 72% to 45%. This retreat comes amid 'an aggressive backlash against diversity, equity and inclusion' fueled by conservative courts, right-wing groups, and a Trump-led White House stamping its anti-DEI executive orders. The Conference Board calls this 'a key inflection point,' but apparently, transparency is the only thing going extinct faster than the gender gap on corporate boards.
