Democrats Fold Shutdown Deal Like Sad Lawn Chairs, Trump Peaks
After a historic 40-day standoff worthy of a daytime soap opera, Democratsâstill licking their wounds from the 2025 November electionsâcapitulated without their prized Affordable Care Act tax credit extension for 22 million people. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the target of a House Democrat mutiny, got outvoted by eight rebels who signed off on a deal funding the government through January 30, reversing Trump-era layoffs and food stamps. Meanwhile, Trump, who basically RSVPed late to the shutdown party, demanded Senate all-nighters and to 'nuke the filibuster,' because why not? Elizabeth Warren called the deal a 'mistake,' which is Senate-speak for 'embrace the chaos.'
