Tech hiring has nosedived 35% since early 2020, a sobering trend partly blamed on the pandemic hangover and ChatGPT's campervan of disruption. Indeed's senior economist Brendon Bernard muses, 'While there isn't a smoking gun linking AI to the plunge, automation trends could be a reason the weakness persists.' Junior tech jobs got the pink slip, replaced by demand for AI wizards and folks with at least 5 years of battle scars. Meanwhile, SAPâaka the beige of enterprise softwareâhas shares tripled, proving boring tech is the slow-cooked steak of Wall Street.
