Trump’s Naval Drug War: Kill Boats, Kill Survivors, Kill Logic

KEY POINTS

  • From mid-August, the U.S. sent warships, drones, and fighter jets near Venezuela alongside an increased bounty on Maduro.
  • On Sept. 2, a 'precision strike' killed 11 aboard a boat run by 'Tren de Aragua,' with controversy over a follow-up attack on survivors.
  • Between September and October, a total of at least 10 strikes reportedly killed 37 alleged narcoterrorists across the Caribbean and Pacific.
  • Both Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Trump publicly announced strikes on social media, while ignoring press inquiries.

In a real-life ‘Game of Drones,’ the U.S. military, per the Pentagon and President Trump tweeting from his throne, launched at least 10 lethal strikes on 'narco-terrorist' boats near Venezuela between early September and late October 2025. Pete Hegseth, Defense Secretary and self-titled 'Secretary of War,' reportedly ordered a second bombing of survivors from the September 2nd strike that killed 11 (Trump tweeted videos, because nothing screams diplomacy like video clips). These strikes unfolded from the Caribbean to the Eastern Pacific, taking out anywhere from 2 to 6 alleged traffickers per hit. Meanwhile, some claim legality is as murky as the water these boats sank in and lawmakers sniff around like confused fish. Somehow, despite all these deaths and strikes, the Department of Defense still won’t answer Axios' polite inquiries—because silence is the new press release.
