According to John O'Trakoun of the Richmond Fed, new grads arriving fresh from 'Zoom in their childhood bedrooms' are stuck in a 'double-whammy' hiring freeze. The latest Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond data reveal 13.4% of unemployed are 'new labor force entrants'—a number not seen since 1988 Baby Boomer frenzy. While overall unemployment hovers at 4.2%, those clutching diplomas and dreams are trapped in one of the toughest job markets in years, with long-term unemployment stubbornly high.
