Fort Stewart: Where Handguns Outsmart the Army’s Arsenal

At Fort Stewart, Sgt. Quornelius Radford reportedly "brought his personal handgun onto base and shot five people" in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat area. Luckily, witnesses "immediately and without hesitation tackled" him, showing teamwork superior to HR policies. The Army admits to baffling confusion on how a personal firearm slipped past base security, but the victims are thankfully in "stable condition." Radford had a prior DUI arrest unknown to his chain of command—apparently background checks are another battlefield. Brig. Gen. Lubas confirmed this wasn't Army-issue weaponry, but personal firepower with military-grade bad timing.
