Dylan Field, Figma's CEO who turned a sketch into a public company with 1,600+ employees, says AI is the job blender nobody asked for. According to a recent Figma survey, a wild 56% of so-called non-designers now moonlight as accidental designers—up from 44% last year. Field announced on Lenny's Podcast in October 2025 that job titles are having an existential crisis with roles like designers, engineers, researchers, and product managers all doing a confusing toe-dip into each other’s ponds, courtesy of AI. Seventy-two percent blame AI for this workplace shape-shifting, as simple vibe-coding now lets you fake engineer your way through meetings. Remember when your weird job title meant something? Yeah, neither does Field.
