Attorney General Nominee’s Epstein Meeting Goes About As Well As A Root Canal

KEY POINTS

  • On Thursday, Todd Blanche met with Epstein survivors after Sen. Thom Tillis insisted on a face-to-face meeting before his vote.
  • Survivors like Annie Farmer and Dani Bensky criticized Blanche’s attitude and said the meeting was unproductive and felt like a formality.
  • Despite DOJ calling it a “productive discussion,” survivors say Blanche remains unresponsive to their requests and concerns.

Todd Blanche, the soon-to-be acting AG’s grand debut with Epstein survivors on Thursday was less a heart-to-heart and more ‘let’s check the Tillis box’ ritual. Retiring Senator Thom Tillis demanded this little meet-and-greet to unlock his critical Senate Judiciary Committee vote—a single R no would derail Blanche’s dream job. Survivors like Annie Farmer labeled Blanche ‘abrasive and condescending,’ calling his explanations about interview protocols and Maxwell's cushy min-sec prison transfer ‘wholly dissatisfactory and contrived.’ Dani Bensky, who once glimpsed hope, now calls the encounter ‘nonproductive.’ DOJ’s spin? Blanche led a “productive initial discussion” loaded with FBI pep talks, apparently mistaking progress for performance art. Meanwhile, survivors remain convinced Blanche’s heart is closed tighter than those released, unredacted files exposing them to more trouble. In one corner, the acting AG insists he can't really talk to victims; in the other, victims wonder if he can talk at all.
