Eater’s 20-Year Food Gala: 75 Gallons of Negroni & Tofu Triumphs
In a deliciously lavish throwback party, Eater celebrated its 20th anniversary by throwing a gastronomic extravaganza named Eater Off Menu, proving excess is still in (hello, 75-gallon negroni fountain!). Chef Daisuke Nakazawa served up sushi, while Xi’an Famous Foods repped spicy tofu-skin noodles – honorably street food against decadent Tatiana’s truffle-caviar oxtail rangoons. Guests even snagged the super rare very first Eater print mag, reflecting on 20 years of cronuts, supergreens, and blenders with more horsepower than your car. The evening had sectors like More Is More (caviar for days), Slow Food, Heritage Cooking, Sweet Treats, and maybe Padma Lakshmi in a martini-dispensing phonebooth. Capital One cardholders got a fancy exclusive preview because who doesn’t want caviar and corporate perks? Cadillac, Cathay Pacific, Coca-Cola’s Foodmarks, Impossible Foods, and Vitamix sponsored, and ticket sales helped feed folks through World Central Kitchen. What’s better than food trends and charity in one mouthwatering session?
