On September 3, 2025, while the world blinked at TikTok dances, China rolled out its military circus in Tiananmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of Japan's WWII defeat. The grand spectacle featured a Type-100 tank dubbed 'highly intelligent,' probably to handle the coordination of smoke breaks and drone deliveries during 'coordinated combat.' Mounted on trucks, the LY-1 'precision destruction' lasers and 'high-energy' anti-drone beams flexed their power — prep time unknown, but dramatic narration guaranteed by CGTN. Meanwhile, the DF-61 ICBM debuted with a 12,000 km range, enough to strike anywhere (including your bad decisions). The liquid-fueled DF-5C with up to 10 MIRVs promised multi-location mayhem one missile at a time. The hypersonic YJ-20 missile speeds past Mach 5 like China’s budget in arms racing — fast, flashy, and flying over questions of real-world testing.
