On Thursday's Senate blockbuster, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., heir to a political dynasty now specializing in vaccine skepticism, got grilled by Democrats who called for his resignation. Promising during confirmation to play nice on vaccines, he’s since thrown $500 million in funding for new mRNA vaccines into a ditch and replaced CDC vaccine experts with public anti-vaxxers. Senators like Bernie Sanders and Michael Bennet weren’t buying Kennedy’s 'transparent evidence,' with Bennet reminding him 'This isn't a podcast.' When asked about COVID death numbers, Kennedy replied confusedly about 'data chaos' and demanded to 'see the data' before acknowledging vaccine lives saved. Senator Cassidy (R-La.) praised Trump’s Operation Warp Speed but called RFK Jr.’s anti-vaccine moves 'inconsistent'—because apparently, vaccine policy is the new reality TV drama. Somehow, this parade of contradictions still has paid $500 million worth of funding casualties.
