KEY POINTS

  • Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino and agents started leaving Minnesota on January 26 after Trump and Governor Tim Walz had a 'productive' call.
  • Trump sent former ICE director Tom Homan to Minneapolis, saying Homan would report directly to him, with Walz reportedly 'happy' about the decision.
  • Walz told media Trump was unaware Minnesota already complied with ICE requests and agreed to look into reducing federal agents while investigating deadly shootings.

On January 26, Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino and federal agents began their majestic retreat from Minnesota after a 'productive' Trump-Gov. Walz pow-wow. Turns out, Trump didn’t know Minnesota’s Department of Corrections was already playing nice with ICE, alerting them before releasing undocumented inmates. In a surprising cameo, former ICE director Tom Homan was dispatched to Minneapolis to 'report directly' to Trump, who claimed Walz was 'happy' and House GOP’s Lisa Demuth called it a 'reset.' Meanwhile, Trump casually denied calling Alex Pretti a terrorist, preferring to let 'facts' lead while top deputies had run ahead with conclusions faster than a DHS agent on a sugar rush.
