Bobby Hart, the unsung Monkees mastermind behind hits like 'Last Train to Clarksville' and '(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone,' died at 86 in his Los Angeles lair after a battle with poor health triggered by a broken hip in 2024. Partner-in-crime Tommy Boyce missed the party decades ago, but Hart stuck around long enough to prove heartbreak and hip fractures go hand in hand — or at least hip then heart. Co-author Glenn Ballantyne spilled the solemn tea, making us wonder if composing pop classics is the most hazardous career you never considered.
