On November 3, 2025, the BBC experienced a Plot Twist™ worthy of a daytime soap when its director-general Tim Davie and news head Deborah Turness simultaneously resigned over a Panorama documentary that expertly turned President Trump’s January 6 speeches—separated by 50 minutes—into a time-warped mashup. The drama exploded after a leaked internal memo by ex-adviser Michael Prescott accused the BBC of 'serious and systemic' bias, including its Gaza coverage. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and Trump himself praised the resignations, with Trump declaring on Truth Social that the BBC 'doctored' his 'perfect' speech, while Leavitt shared a savage 'Shot:... Chaser' combo of tweets. In a plot twist even Netflix wouldn’t greenlight, the BBC bosses took the 'buck stops here' responsibility and then promptly surrendered it.
