AWS Outage: Internet’s Morning Coffee Just Got Cancelled

On Monday, Amazon Web Services decided to play modern-day digital gods by pulling the plug on heavy hitters like Duolingo, Roblox, Coinbase, Canva, Lloyds Bank, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Reddit, Delta, and United Airlines — basically every place you’d realistically want a server to live. AWS casually referred to the meltdown as 'requests may be throttled' while trying to ring-fix EC2 launch errors, elastic cloud nonsense that runs nearly everything online. Corinne Cath-Speth from Article 19 called this a 'democratic failure,' a fancy way to say ‘when AWS takes a nap, civilization hiccups.' Even airlines suffered amidst a government shutdown staffing crisis because, why not stack tech failures like a bad Netflix binge?
