In a plot twist just in time for October 7, fresh-faced Victorian MP Mary Aldred expressed disappointment over Andrew Hastie's resignation handling — a spicy rookie review we didn’t know Parliament needed. On the tech front, Communications Minister Anika Wells is summoning three major telco bosses for a 'chat' about Optus' twice-bungled mobile network outages. These cosmic coincidences lead Labor to launch 'triple zero custodian legislation', presumably to keep emergency calls alive between Optus crashes and political drama. No dollar amounts or rescue plans, but plenty of twice-failed signal pings to keep us talking — or at least trying to call 000.
