Last week in Washington DC's swanky Westin Downtown, two conferences pulled political nerds like moths to a flame—or maybe more like traps for AI fanatics. On the right, Trump's cronies and allies gathered at NatCon, plotting the great AI witchhunt—because nothing says 'future tech' like old-school persecution. Meanwhile, a subscription sale at The Verge tempted readers with $4 for a month or $35 a year, promising Wall Street insider drama AND live coverage of the iPhone 17 launch. Because who needs AI ethics when you can obsess over Apple gadgets? The whole affair screamed 'choose your apocalypse: dystopian AI overlords or endless tech hype.'
