Asylum Denied Because Paperwork Played Hide and Seek

In a bureaucratic comedy of errors worthy of a Kafka reboot, NPR reveals that dozens of immigrants across the U.S. had their asylum cases dismissed simply because they 'have not yet received a screening interview.' Apparently, the governmentâs way of fast-tracking justice is to fast-track dismissal before even meeting people. If only ghosting was this officially sanctioned elsewhere. Itâs like showing up to a party and getting kicked out for not arriving on time to a meetup you werenât invited to yet.
