In a move as subtle as a sledgehammer, President Trump attempted to fire Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook right before a critical interest rate vote. Luckily, a federal appeals court stepped in like the worldâs most inconvenient referee and slammed the brakes on that plan. The timing was impeccableâright before the Fed was about to tweak rates that affect your mortgage, credit card, and probably your grocery bill. Lisa Cook, whoâs now officially âtoo hot to fireâ, must be thrilled to have a legal shield at a time when Fed drama doubles as political theater. Who knew central banking was this much fun?
