Trump’s Deportation Roulette: Tattoos, Tears, and Tangled Lies
In one of the more spectacular displays of bureaucratic daredevilry, the Trump administration sent over 230 Venezuelan migrants straight to El Salvador's maximum-security CECOT prison, dubbing them 'sick animals' without proof. The New York Times of deportations left families like Juan José Ramos Ramos’ hanging in agony as he endured 'physical torture' while labeled gang monsters for sporting classic ink tats — tattoos the experts say don’t actually prove gang ties. And as if plotted by a sadistic game show, some migrants with green-lighted voluntary departures were sent to prison instead. Truly, as ProPublica reports, it was human Kafka with a bad tattoo.
