President Trump just signed an executive order axing the $800 de minimis exemption for ALL countries, meaning even your grandma’s cute little gift could now get hit with an $80 to $200 tariff. The White House insists this crackdown protects 'national security and the economy' because 98% of narcotics seizures are supposedly from these low-value shipments. Or, as they put it, packages "subject to less scrutiny than traditional imports" pose risks. So starting August 29, expect Customs to treat your online shopping like an episode of Cops meets Wall Street.
