Arctic Funds Thaw Ice, Freeze Bureaucrats, Aid Indigenous Voices
In a valiant attempt to not watch the Arctic turn into an unsolicited hot tub party, the Arctic Research Consortium of the United States threw cash at programs aimed at Indigenous communities and their less-enthusiastic allies, melting sea ice. While there’s no dollar figure or flashy corporate sponsor divulged, dozens of clandestine initiatives are apparently juggling ice data and kayaks, probably. These folks proved it’s possible to track fragile sea ice while simultaneously ignoring that inconvenient plot twist called climate change, plus help Indigenous groups whose voices often compete with melting ice more successfully. A round of applause for inaction laced with subtle action!
