Tarrant County’s Polling Cut: Democracy’s Budget-Friendly Execution

In Tarrant County, Texas, officials voted 3-2 to slash election polling sites from 331 to 216, cutting early voting too — all ‘to save money,’ said Judge Tim O'Hare, who believes campaign integrity means fewer voters, not more. O’Hare calmly declared, 'I would venture to guess 99% of the public cannot name a single thing on (the 2025 ballot),' perfectly summarizing the new voter enthusiasm plan. Critics called it blatant voter suppression targeting Black, Hispanic, and college voters, accusing the county of ‘sacrificing democracy to save a buck.’ It's efficiency, if democracy were a sinking ship.
