In a plot twist nobody saw coming, Sony’s February 2026 State of Play showcase dropped 'God of War Sons of Sparta'—a 2D side scroller starring a baby-faced Kratos grinding through the legendary Agoge military school with his brother Deimos. Developed by Santa Monica Studio and Megacat Studios (because every war god needs a catnip partner), this instant-out-now PlayStation 5 exclusive promises intimate spear and shield combat, all while wielding Olympus' divine gadgets, affectionately called the ‘Gifts of Olympus.’ Sony insists this is canonical, which surely means the gods have now approved the pixelated nostalgia tour. We’re all terrible drivers of our own lives but apparently Kratos mastered 2D scrolling better than most of us do adulthood.
