US Navy Outsources Ship TLC to South Korea, Because Why Not?
In a stunning plot twist straight out of a global buddy cop movie, South Korea's HD Hyundai Heavy Industries snagged a maintenance contract for the US Navy's cargo ship USNS Alan Shepard. The company will perform everything from 'propeller cleaning' to 'tank maintenance' starting September with delivery slated for November. This marks the debut of MASGAâyes, 'Make American Shipbuilding Great Again'âa $150 billion collab where Korea basically flexes on US yards by offering 'better in-house worker training' and 'real-time monitoring' that left then-Navy Sec. Carlos Del Toro 'floored.' Americaâs shipyards are 'largely intact and dormant'âbasically a ghost town craving some K-pop energy and hard hats.
