Elon Musk’s Twitter Renamed X: Link Sharing is Back-ish

After Tesla CEO Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022 and promptly turned it into "X," he slapped links with the digital equivalent of a guilt trip, hoping nobody would click away from his platform (because, time spent = cash, or so he says). Now, entering October 2025, X’s head of product, Nikita Bier, announces a ā€˜big arbitrage opportunity’ for journalists to post links that won’t get buried like forgotten high school yearbooks. The catch? The tech magic is ā€˜a little confusing’ and nobody but Bier and the algorithm seems to understand it. Meanwhile, desperate users craft link-in-reply hacks, praying this experiment won’t turn into the next social media ghost town. Theo Elon Musk ironically tweets: 'Best thing is long form on this platform,' translating to 'Stick around, don’t actually send people anywhere!'
